Last Night's Forecast General Situation: Pressure is high to the north of the Dominion and is now rising in the South Island following the passage eastward of a depression from the south Tasman. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong south-westerly in the South Island and n south-westerly change advancing up the North Island during tonight and to-morrow, directions in the South Island later varying between north-west and south-west. Seas: In New Zealand waters moderate inshore north of East Cape, olher- , rather rough to rough. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to stronn wind-: from a westerly quarter and rather rough seas. Weather: Rather changeable generally, with showers accompanying the advance of a southerly change, conditions probably continuing unsettled in the western and southern portions of the South Island, improving gradually elsewhere: cool temperatures. To-Day's North island Report The barometric pressure at Gisborne was steady this morning at the level shown in the glass yesterday. The force of the wind had dropped considerably, and was strongest at Auckland, a moderate breeze being reported there. For the most part the wind from the west, and blue skies with detached clouds were reported in all districts with the exception oi Auckland, Castlepoint. and 'Cape Campbell, where conditions were overcast. The temperature was highest at East Cape with (iG degrees, other recordings being;:—Opotiki, (53; Gisborne, 01; Napier, GO: Cape Maria Van Dicmen, 59; Tauranga, 58: Castlepoint, and Cape Palliser, 57. Visibility generally was good. A heavy sea was experienced at Napier, but al other ports the sea was moderate to smooth. Midday Forecast General situation. —An anticyclone Is located to the north, while pressure is low to the south-cast of the South Island. Forecast.--Light to fresh west to south winds. Weather mainly fair to line, with some scattered showers. Temperatures cool. Seas moderate.
