TWENTY-SIX MILLIONS
VISITORS TO FAIR HALF EXPECTED TOTAL (Elec. Ti'l. Copyright—United Press Ansa.) (Reed. Nov. 2, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK. Nov. 1. The New York World Fair closed yesterday. The paid attendance totalled only 20,000.000. Though this represented only half of the total expected, it is still a United States record. The fair reopens in May of 1940. Finland, despite her difficulties with Russia, announces she is returning, but other Scandinavian countries are withdrawing. The New Zealand representative favours a renewal of the New Zealand pavilion, but states that this depends on the availability of funds and the action of Britain and the other Dominions. There were 4,000,000 visitors to the New Zealand pavilion. Travel and trade inquiries were encouraging. A decision is not necessary for three months.
