PILOT OFFICER KILLED

TIMARU ATHLETE

AIR FORCE ACCIDENT (Per Press Association.) TIMARU, this day. Cabled advice has been received of the death in England of Pilot Officer Colin Cameron, a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Cameron, of Timaru. It is understood that Pilot Officer Cameron was killed in an accident involving a Royal Air Force plane.

Pilot Officer Cameron, who was 22 years of age, was a promising athlete and before leaving for England held the South Canterbury mile and halfmile running championships. He competed in the Canterbury championships in 1938, being second in the mile. In England he represented the Royal Air Force against the army and navy, finishing fourth in the mile to the noted English runner, Pell
