Tiie Rangitaiki Rugby Sub-Union’s representative team has an outstanding record in Bay of Plenty football for the past seven seasons. In 1933 Rangitaiki won the Bay of Plenty cjbampionship for the Te HurinuiApanui Memorial Shield, and held the trophy until the end of 1938 seaon, when in order to improve the standard of football in the province, the shield was handed back to the Bay of Plenty union. Rangitaiki, however, again won the shield at the end of the present season. Since 1933 Rangitaiki has played 45 shield games, having been beaten in only one, this being in 1936, by Tauranga. In a return match .during the same season Rangitaiki regained the shield.
