TRANSPORT MERGER
ASHBURTON DISTRICT 14 OPERATORS INVOLVED ECONOMY FORECAST (Per Press Association.) ASHBURTON, this day. Transport operators throughout the Ashburton district merged last night in one company, which is described by No. 3 Transport Licensing Authority, Mr. T. H. Langford, as one of the soundest concerns in New Zealand at the present time and one of the most important moves made in the transport. industry in the Dominion. Fourteen operators have pooled the whole of their resources and the company which became effective this morning has a capital of £52,300. Only three operators are staying out of the company which will control 06 goods vehicle authorities, four passenger and seven school bus routes. Great economy will be effected in operation through the elimination of overlapping and an enormous saving in milage.
