MINERS CEASE WORK

DISPUTE OVER ROAD IMPROVEMENT DEMAND ACCIDENT SEQUEL (For Press Association.) HAMILTON, this day. As a protest against the rough state of the road leading to the MacDonald Mine, the men this morning refused to start work until repairs to the road were undertaken. The decision not to start work, which affects about 200, arose out of an accident at the mine yesterday when a trucker employed at the mine, William Moyes, aged 32, received a fractured leg when lie was caught between some skids while at work. The accident occurred at 1.30 p.m., and tlie man was not admitted to the hospital till 6.9 o’clock owing to the ambulance being unable to negotiate the road to ;he mine which is about a mile long.
