CRICKET SEASON
GISBORNE OPENING FIRST GAMES TO-DAY Cricket enthusiasts donned their club colours to-day to take part in the opening of the season of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association, and to participate in their various club matches. Conditions were splendid and the grounds were in good order at the Oval and High School. The season was officially opened at 3 p.m. by the chairman of the association, Mr. J. deV. W. Blathwayt. The progress of the matches on the Oval at the time this edition went to press was as follows: — Senior A Grade City A (v. Marist A). —First innings, 22 runs for one wicket; P. H. Dow 16; M. Sharp, one wicket for four runs. Old Boys (v. G.H.S.O.B.).—First innings, 25 runs for one wicket; A Fisher 9. Senior B Grade United B (v. Gisborne Club).—First innings, 25 runs for two wickets; L. Bignell 13 not out; V. S. Caulton, two wickets for six runs. Marist B (v. G.H.5.0.8. Blue). — First innings, 19 runs for three wickets; A. McLeod, two wickets for seven runs.
