THERMAL ACTIVITY

POHUTU GEYSER PLAYS FIVE SPECTACULAR SHOTS Five excellent displays by the famour Pohutu Geyser in the Whakarewarewa thermal area provided an unexpected and interesting attraction for visitors to the thermal region on Tuesday morning. The first activity of the geyser was shortly after 7 o’clock, when the height of the shot was about. 80ft. while about an hour later another shot of a greater height was given, the display lasting for several minutes. Three more displays were witnessed during the morning, but in the afternoon the geyser again became quiescent, although the unusual height of the water in the evening in the boiling cauldron alongside indicated a renewal of activity.
