GISBORNE RAISES £640

Speaking at the concert held in the Salvation Army Citadel last evening as the concluding function of the annual self-denial appeal, the corps officer, Captain Percy L. Smith, stated that the Gisborne contribution was approimalcly .£(>4o, but the final figures would not be known for a few days. The total included gifts of £l6 9s‘id from the Sunday School and £l9 16s lOd from the Home League.

Captain Smith added that the aggregate of approximately £640 constituted a slight increase on last year s collection. Items were presented during the evening as follows: —Band, “Chapel Hill,” hymn, "Memories of the Past, selection, “British .Melodies,” selection, and “Conflict” march: vocal selection, Home League songster brigade; pianoforte solo, Miss I-lillier; vocal solo, “O Saviour Mine,’ Mrs. P. L. Smith; cornet duct, “Tit Larks, Bandsmen J. Stein and 11. Ratcliffe; conjuring, Band-Sergeant H. Pearce: elocutionary number, Bandsman Dunsmore; vocal duet, “Blessed Lights ol Home,” Mrs. P. L. Smith and Bandsman A. Stein; cornet solo, “Macushla, Bandsman A. Stein.
