Mr. J H. Luxford, S.M., who concluded the sitting of the Police Court in Wairoa yesterday afternoon, left later by railcar for the south. —Special. The Rev. Dr. J. J. North, principal of the Baptist Theological College, Remuera, has returned to New Zealand after fulfilling speaking engagements in Sydney and Melbourne.
Mr. T. J. Morrison, chief postmaster at Wairoa, accompanied by Mrs. Morrison, left this afternoon for the south. Mr. Morrison is on annual leave. —Special. The Hon. D. Wilson, leader of the Legislative Council, is expected to arrive at Gisborne late this afternoon from Wellington. He has arranged to return to-morrow. Mr. J. F. Hanna, physical director of the Y.M.C.A.. Wellington, has received advice of his appointment as physical training instructor in the New Zealand Air Force.
Lieutenant-Colonel T. H. Dawson lias accepted the command of the exservicemen who are providing guards at vital points in and about Auckland. He will take the place of Caplain A C. Trousdale, who is * one of the officers appointed to the Second Echelon in tiie special military force for service in New Zealand or overseas.
Mr. R. B. Sibson, M.A., who was lately appointed classics master at King's College, Auckland, has arrived from England. Mr. Sibson was educated at King’s School. Rochester, and at University College, Oxford, where he look honours and the diploma in education, and was awarded the Conington Greek prize, also representing his college at football and athletics. He has had some years of teaching experience jn English schools, and is a member of the British Trust for Ornithology.
Mr. A. G. Hultquist, M.P. for the Bay of Plenty, will leave Whakatane on November 7 for Wellington, to take part in the caucus there, and to attend the opening of the Centennial Exhibition on November 8. He will introduce deputations from his electorate to Ministers of the Crown on November 3 and 7. Mr. Hultquist intends to visit Christchurch later. He is to be joined by Mrs. Hultquist at Wellington prior to the opening of the Exhibition, and they will return to Whakatane on November 15. The member proposes to pay a visit to the Gisborne end of the district towards the end of next month,
