BOY SCOUTS IN CAMP LABOUR PARTY DANCE (Herald Correspondcut.) A parly of a dozen Scouts camped last week-end on the property of Mr. W. N. Tombleson at Mahanga and. despite the rain on Ihe Saturday and most of Sunday, an enjoyable and useful time was spent. At the Saturday night camp-fire, a varied programme of items was much enjoyed, while Scouts N. Hilliard and T. Gumming were presented with second-class and athletes’ badges. Patrol Loader F. Hilliard received his cyclist’s badge, and R. Harris arid W. Tombleson were invested as Scouts. The two patrolleaders, F. Hilliard and G. Hunter, were successful in passing the tests Cor their cooks' badge.

Holiday Wind-up

The Labour Parly’s dance, held in the No. 3 Y.M.C.A. Hull as a wind-up of the holiday festivities, proved a great success, drawing a large number of visitors from all round the district, in addition to local residents. The

music was supplied by the Coutts piano-accordion band, while extras were contributed by Mr. C. W. Gorkin and Mrs. ,T. Hapj. Mr. R. Nathan was the M.C. Mrs. E. Fairlie was the winner of the travelling-rug. Personal Items Mr. B. Brien. on the staff of lire P.W.D. shire at Waikokopu, is shortly to be transferred to a similar position in the store at No. 3 Camp. Mr. C. A. Mason, who lias resided in No. 3 Camp for three years, Inis left to take up a position in Gisborne. Sister Francis, who was recently the resident nurse for the P.W.D. Medical Association at Kopuawhara and is stationed now at Tuai, was the recent guest of Mrs. C. A. Mason.

Mrs. Ayhvood, No. 3 Camp, is in Gisborne on account of illness in her family.—Miss Helen Tamm spent last week-end at home with her parents at No. 3 Camp.—Miss Mona Chafley. of the Gisborne High School, was the guest of Mrs. C. Tamm for the weekend.

The camps were quiet over the holiday period, when a number of residents made good use of the few days’ break, Wairoa and Gisborne receiving their quota of visitors. Sister Ker visited Waikaremoana,
