INSPECTION INTENDED
THE CITY OF FLINT PRIZE CREW RELEASED (Rccd. Oct. 27, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 20. Referring to the American freighter. City of Flint, which was captured b> Germans while proceeding from America to England and taken to Murmansk, where the German prize crew was interned, tiie Moscow corre.-,) undent of the British United Press states that the vessel is being t.etair.ed by die Soviet authorities for a scrutiny of her cargo.
The cm'respondent states that he Murmansk authorities released the German prize crew ol the vessel. Ii ;s believed this action was taken on representations from Germany on the ground that the ship was brought in for repairs.
A Washington message states that the United States Ambassador in Moscow, Mr. Stoinhardl, has notified the Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, that the Soviet Foreign Office has assured him that the American officers and crew of the City of Flint, were safe aboard the vessel at Murmansk.
The State Department indicated that further details could not be expected.
