INCREASES IN FARES

TRAMS AND BUSES WELLINGTON DECISION (Pur Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Wellington City Council, at a special meeting yesterday, decided, on the recommendation of the tramways, electricity and street lighting committee, to make an increase in tramway fares to bring in an extra £BOOO yearly and to increase the bus fares to realise an additional £IOOO yearly, thus making up the £9OOO yearly which it has been agreed to pay the council’s tramway and bus employees. The increase in tram fares consists of confining the existing 2s- (id concession ticket to three sections and the introduction of a new 8s eighttrip ticket for l’oiir and live sections. The resolution to increase fares will he for warded by the eny solicitor to the price fixing tribunal for approval.
