While Mr. A. WhiSton, of Bright street, Hanley, Stalls, was digging in his backyard yesterday, to pul up his air raid shelter the bottom of the hole suddenly disappeared. lie found he had uncovered a disused pilshaft. He dropped a weighted rope into the cavity and found water GOft. below.
