THE CITY OF FLINT
AMERICAN INQUIRIES DETAILS LACKING , SEIZURE BY NAZIS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Oct. 25, 3 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 24. A message from Washington states that the American Secretary of State. Mr. Cordell Hull, expressed concern that no word had been received of the crew of the United States freighter City of Flint.
It was reported yesterday from Murmansk that the vessel had arrived in Kola Bay manned by a German crew which had detained the American crew after the seizure of the ship while en route from New York to Manchester. The Soviet authorities detained the ship and interned the Germans.
It -s stated in Washington that inquiries were made of the Hamburg prize court and the Berlin War Ministry and naval department. The replies were without information. Word is also being sought in Moscow and Oslo.
The Berlin correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain states that the American Embassy was instructed formally to inquire as to the whereabouts of the City of Flint and other details. ffhc United States Ambassador at Moscow called at the Soviet Foreign Office and inquired for details as to the arrival of the City of Flint.
A message from Tromso states that the vessel lay off the Norwegian coast throughout Saturday, after which a Norwegian torpedo boat escorted her outside the three-mile limit
