BAG-SNATCHER GAOLED TRAILED BY MOTORISTS (Fur Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Seen by men in a passing car when he snatched a bag from a woman in Pirie street, one followed while the others drove to the Mount Cook police station and got a constable. Joseph Eric Cornish, aged 27, a labourer, appeared in the Police Court to-day and was sentenced to nine months’ hard labour, representing si:: months for the theft of the handbag and contents valued at £l2 9s 7Jd, and three months on another theft charge involving Bs. He was described as an old offender who preferred to live by stealing.
