INDECENT EXPOSURE

MECHANIC BEFORE COURT TWO YEARS’ PROBATION “This class of, offence is usually punishable by a' term of imprisonment, but your case is different from the ordinary case of this kind, and you will be admitted to probation for two years,” said Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., this morning in the Police Court to Seddon Lionel Wilkinson, aged 30, a mechanic, who appeared on a charge of indecent exposure. Wili.inson appeared before the court yesterday and was remanded to come up for sentence this morning, The defence was conducted by Mr. M. R. Maude, who said that the accused had been working on the No. 13 scheme and bad met some friends with whom he had had several drinks on the afternoon of the day of the cffence, Mr. Maude understood that Wilkinson had been a particularly clean-living man, who had suffered from poor health. On the occasion of the offence he had been affected so badly by the drink that he was ill and had taken refuge in the shelter shed at Stanley road. He was willing (o take out a prohibition order. In admitting the accused to probation, Mr. Luxford said that the order was subject to the ordinary statutory conditions, with a special condition that tiie accused be prohibited from obtaining liquor.
