Mr. .T. 11. Luxford, S.M., to-day completed the i'lagist.' .te's Court business in Gisborne, and will preside at the court in Wairoa to-morrow. Mr. W. H. Freeman, S.M, Hamilton, will relieve in Gisborne next Monday and Tuesday, and then tour the Coast circuit.
Mr. C. H. Hyett, who has retired after 35 years’ association with the Hawke’s Bay Herald and later the Herald-Tribune, was met by the combined staffs of the Herald-Tribune and made the recipient of a presentation of a fireside chair as a token of the comradeship and goodwill that had existed between him and his fellowworkers. The formal presentation was made by Mr. W. A. Whitlock, managing editor and director, and reference was made to the conscientious and valued services that Mr. Hyett had given as a linotype operator and more recently as reader. Mr. Hyett was formerly employed on the staff of the Poverty Bay Herald, prior to his departure for Hawke’s Bay.
