LADY’S SUCCESS
HEADS OWNERS’ LIST
HUNT CLUB RACES
TRAINERS’ FOUR WINS
DOUBLE WITH LOVELILT
By “Trenton"
A lady owner. Miss M. Williams, headed the winning owners' list at yesterday’s Hunt Club races. \ The stakes were rather small and * consequently the owners' totals were small, but were well divided. Details are:—Miss M. Williams, £100: Messrs. T. Fraser, £SO; W. Wilson and G. W. Greene, each £4O; R. McNeil, £37: M. R. Moore, £l3; A. McDonald and J. Nixon, each £10; W. Black, £8; J. D. Jobson, D. J. Barry, H. Maude and M. Honnessy, each £7: E. Fitzgerald. F. Tolerton and J. Martin, each £3. Change of Fortune It was very pleasing to see R. Marsh have a change of fortune yesterday. He steered three winners, Minnow, Waikawa and Proclamation. P/ Craddock and N. Vaughan each rode a winner, while Mr. Colder won the Hunt Club Cup and Hunters' Bracelet, both on Lovelilt. This made Mr. Calder’s second successive success in the Hunt Cup.
Four Successes
Trainer A. McDonald led in four winners yesterday, scoring with Whetu, who races in his colours, a double with Lovelilt, and Waikawa.
D. N. Ducker, Greenmeadows, supplied the winner of the big flat race with Skyway, while two ownertrainers in W. Wilson and G. W. Greene won with Minnow and Proclamation respectively.
End of Reay Bridge
Reay Bridge, who was destroyed after breaking a fetlock during the running of the Hexton Handicap at Makaraka yesterday, was a five-year-old gelding by Master Colossus from Likely. He raced ifi the colours of Mr, G. D. Jobson, who also races Bold Step.
Reay Bridge was not outstanding on the turf, although he won several hack races and appeared as if he might haye made a middle-distance performer.
Left Three Times f
Hunting Mint had three races at the Turf Club and Hunt Club meetings and stood at the barrier on the first occasion and. dwelt long enough to be hopelessly out of it on the other two. Below Track Form Pennyeomequick was a keen disappointment to his connections each day. She ran much below the form she displayed on the tracks before the meetings and is to be retired to the stud. Unfair Comparison Although the Hunt Club meeting yesterday showed an increased “tote” turnover of £27IG, this is not nearly so good as it may appear. Last year the club's meeting was held under exceptionally bad weather conditions, so a fair comparison between the two meetings cannot be made. However, the club did very well to get as close as it did to last Saturday's turnover’ of the Turf Club. The figures for the Turf Club were £4508 10s and £O2OI on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, and the Hunt Club £5947 10s, making a total of £10,057 for the three days’ racing.
