ARRESTS IN NORWAY
GERMAN SHIPPING SPIES
(Reed. Oct’. 22, 9 a.m.) BERGEN, Oct. 21. Two Germans have been arrested on suspicion of spying on shipping. Tiie police had noticed that one habitually sent postcards showing Norwegian harbours with marks or inscriptions like, "This is where 1 live."
MEDIATION DENIED
BELGIAN ECONOMIST
(Reed. Oct. 23, 10 a.m.) NEW YORK, Oct. 21 M. Paul Van Zeeland, the Belgian economist, who is visiting America, denies London reports that he is discussing mediation with President Ro_osevelt, and reiterates that the purpose of his visit is to attend refugee committee meetings.
