GOLDEN WEDDING
MR. AND MRS. F. GARDNER MANGAPAPA RESIDENTS MARRIED IN MANCHESTER The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. F. Gardner, Oswald street, Mangapapa, was celebrated in the Church of Christ kindergarten hall. Roebuck road, on Thursday evening, when 100 guests were entertained.
Mr. and Mrs. Gardner were married in St, Oswald’s Church, Collyhurst, Manchester, England, on October 19, 1889.
At the celebration on Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Gardner received their guests, assisted by their only daughter, Mrs. TI. J. Bacon, and Mrs. Gardner’s sister, Mrs. L. Gardner. Mrs. F. Gardner was wearing a gown of silver-grey satin beaute, a black panne velvet coatee and a straw hat trimmed with velvet flowers. She carried an artistic bouquet composed of gold roses and ranuncuias, fernery and gold streamers. Mrs. Bacon wore floral cloque in pastel tonings. Her bouquet was oi pink roses. Mrs. L. Gardner wore a mulberry beaute dress with black velvet coatee. Her bouquet was of roses and mauve statis.
Mrs. W. Olding, a niece of Mrs. F. Gardner, wore navy lace, and Mrs. H. Richards, a niece, bottle green velvet. The tables were decorated with Iceland poppies and marigolds, gold and orange colours predominating. In .he centre of the bridal table slood the gold wedding cake made by Mrs. tV. Olding, and overhead hung a huge golden wedding bell. After the usual toasts were honoured, musical items were rendered by Mesdames F. and H. Bacon, E Nunns, Miss L. Trowell, and Mr. I-I Halliwell. Community Singing Engaged Following tire wedding breakfast, ihe tables were cleared and games and community singing enjoyed led bv Messrs. H. Halliwell and H. Bacon, with Miss M. Sellman at the piano. At a late hour all joined in singing “Auid Lang Syne,” bringing a very pleasant evening to a close Many telegrams and beautiful presents were received by Mr. and Mrs. Gardner.
