It is recalled that Germany used similar tactics in the last war when an untrue German statement that Britain iac used gas shells preluded the first German gas offensive. Copies of a leaflet, obviously German in origin, headed: “Britain supplied poison gas to the Boles,” have reached a number of residents of Lancashire. The leaflet contains quotations from persons of Swiss and other nationalities, ostensibly military experts. * Messages from Paris state that, commenting on the report that Germany is still seeking to divide England and. France, the Paris radio to-day broadcast a statement declaring that Germany was making as great a mistake as her earlier propaganda had displayed. An official communique issued in Paris states that patrol iceonnaissanee and artillery activity continued between the Moselle and the Saar to-day. Some prisoners were taken. All was quiet east of the Saar. The Brussels correspondent of The Times states that the Moselle River is still rising, exceeding last year’s highest level by 19in.
