ATHENIA DISASTER

SURVIVORS ARRIVE

Two survivors of the liner Albania, which was torpedoed by a Nazi U-boat the day after war was declared, arrived at Wellington on Tuesday. They are Clive Newcombe, aged 13, and his sister, Jean, aged 10, who are the nephew and niece respectively of Mrs. L. J. Mauie, Kelburn.

These children, who arc members of a branch of the Newcombe familywell known in Karori—resident in the United States, were among those who were, subsequent to the sinking of the Athenia, landed on the coast of Galway, in Ireland.
