DRIVER ACQUITTED
LITTLE GIRL’S DEATH
ACCIDENT SEQUEL
COMMENT BY JUDGE
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day
Without retiring, a jury in the Supreme Court yesterday returned a verdict of not guilty in the case of Donald Nisbet, a truck driver, aged 2(1, charged with manslaughter.
The case was a sequel 1o an accident at Lyall Bay on the afternoon of July 18, when Shirley Ann Blackburn, aged live years, lost her life when she was struck by a lorry driven by the accused. Mr. Justice Blair intimated that he was bound to say the Crown had not presented a case which would entitle the jury to return a verdict of guilty.
