ADDINGTON MARKET BEEF DOWN 20/- TO 307SHEEP VALUES IMPROVE (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. At the Addington stock sale yester.day there was an easing in the high prices ruling lately'. Store sheep improved, the tone of last week being maintained and better prices., were realised for hoggets and ewes and lambs. Ewes and lambs sold at from 11s to 16s sd, ewe hoggets 23s Gd to 29s Gd, and t\\'o, four, six and eighttooth ewes at 15s 3d. A bigger entry of fat lambs brought good lambs back Id per lb. to between lOd and lid per lb. The penning of 5750 fat' sheep was the largest for some weeks. Heavy ewes and lighter wethers were from Is to Is Gd a head easier. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 49s Id, prime heavy 40s to 445, prime medium 34s to 395, light to 2Ss; extra prime heavy ewes to 4Gs Id, prime heavy 34s to 37s Gd, prime medium 30s to 335, light to 225. The entry of fat cattle, 410, was practically the same as last week. There was a decline for most beef, ranging from 20s to 30s a head. Gocd, serviceable beef sold at from 45s to 47s Gd per 1001 b. Extra prime heavy steers made £2l 17s Gd, prime heavy £l7 to £lB 15s, prime medium £ls 10: to £l7, light to £ll 10s; extra prime heifers to £lB 12s Gd, prime £l2 to £l4 10s, medium £lO to £ll ss, light to £9 15s; extra prime cows to £lB 2s Gd, prime £lO 10s to £l2 10s, medium £9 5s to £lO ss, light to £9. There was a decided increase in the porker entry and, though values were scarcely up to those of last week, the sale was excellent. Choppers were in good supply and prices were a shade better. There was a medium entry of baconers, but values were scarcely maintained at the level of last week. Choppers made from £2 13s Gd to £6 18s Gd, and porkers £2 7s Gd to £3 5s Gd, the average price being 7id to BJcl per lb. Baconers made from £3 Gs Gd to £5 9s Gd. the average price being 63d to 73d per lb.
