AFRICAN APPOINTMENT A. D. Locke's offer of an appointment as golf professional to a South African Club, at a salary which will make all but the Americans blink, must have come as something of a disappointment to New Zealand golfing authorities. It had been hoped to
persuade Locke to defend his New Zealand title, but he decided to return direct to South Africa. He has turned down also some tempting offers from America, and declares that he has no intention of going to the United States until he has first won the British Open championship. At present he plans to go to England every ves unt ; ] he annexes the coveted open title.
