HIGH CASTE’S WIN
CAULFIELD STAKES RIVALS OUTCLASSED SUCCESS OF CROJICK CUP HORSES DISAPPOINT (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Oct. 19. 9 a.rn.) MELBOURNE, Oct. IS. High Caste outclassed his rivals to win the Caulfield Stakes at Caulfield to-day. It was High Caste's thirteenth win from 19 starts. The weather was showery but there was a good attendance. Cheery Jack compensated his Sydney connections for his unlucky run at Melbourne by outclassing the field in the Hurdle Race. Glenlonan and Dark David ran good races. Cape Race was disappointing. War Bird finished stoutly in the first division of the Nursery Handicap to beat Applause in the last few strides. Sir Richard was a promising third. Wanganui went a fair race. Securities, trained by the veteran James Scobie, led throughout the second division of the Nursery Handicap. Stylish finished nicely. Strand, by Bulandshar, was a good third. A muddling pace spoilt the Caulfield Stakes. The pace was on over only the last half mile, which was covered in JTijsec. Land Law surprised by finishing second and enhanced his Caulfield Cup prospects. Reading ran a fair race. Feminist and Beau Vite disappointed their spring admirers. Aranui attempted to lead always in the Welter Handicap, but was outstayed by Saul. Good Boy finished fast for third place. Royal Order ran a fair race. Masterton was last. Benedict was destroyed as a result of a fall.
The Cup candidate Historian improved on his recent form to win the Coongy Handicap. Donaster finished well fo beat Pibroch for second place.
