ADVISORY COUNCIL

INDUSTRY IN WAR-TIME j SOLUTION OF PROBLEMS ! DECISION IN BRITAIN (Reed. Oct. 19. 1.50 p.m.) LONDON, Oct, 18. The Ministry ol' Labour announced that representatives of the British Employers’ Confederation and the general council of the Trades Union Congress met to-day to consider the establishment of machinery for the joint discussion of problems which confront the Government and industry j in war-time. It was agreed, subject on the part J of the Trades Union Council to con- j firmation by the general council, to \ set up a national joint council to j advise on all matters in which the j employers and workers have a j common interest, it being understood that the council would be purely ad- j visory and would not invade the j jurisdiction of the organisations in the; respective industries. The council will consist of 15 from each side with the Minister of Labour, Mr. Ernest Brown, as chairman.
