CENTENNIAL QUEENS CAMPAIGN IN WAIROA TO BE CARRIED ON (Spucial to tin: Herald.) WAIROA, this clay. After fully reviewing the queen carnival campaign at a recent meeting, members of the VYairoa Centennial Queen Controlling Committee decided to carry on with the present activities, despite the unsettled conditions and other handicaps arising out of matters beyond the powers of the committee. Sympathetic reference was made to the recent death of Pilot Officer B. Harker, brother of the Citizens' candidate. Miss Valerie Harker, and a motion v! condolence with the relatives of the deceased was passed in the usual manner Having regard to the upsetting influence of present conditions and in deference to the expressed wishes of committees working for the various candid U.e:;, the controlling committee decided to prolong the carnival until the week alter carnival week m Wairoa and to fix a closing date at a later meeting. It was reported that the previous art union held by the committee had proved an outstanding success and it was decided to make application for a permit to conduct a further art union to he drawn at Christmas.
