Hunt, S.M.. into the death of Donald McTavish McCrone, a stevedore, aged 53. married, on September 19. as a result f a shooting accident . ‘‘This is the third serious acciden; in September with this type of firearm,” stated a report received from Senior-Sergeant Kelly, of the arms ,)ur.au of the Police Department, “aiul the eightieth in four years.” Most users of hammer-pins, if was stated, were under the impression that so long as the gun was uncocked it was safe; but that was far from the truth. The evidence showed that Mr. McCrone had driven from his home to hoot rabbits at Tamaki. He got. out >f his motor car, and the gun discharged when he was near the front :f the car, causing severe wounds to he lower part of his face. He died later in the hospital. A verdict was returned that death was the result of a gunshot wound, iccidentally received.
