NAZI WAR DESIGN ATTACKS AT SEA AIM TO CRUSH BRITAIN SKAGERRAK BLOCKADE (Reed. Oct 17, 2.20 p.m.) LONDON. Oct. 16. The Berlin correspondent of the British United Press states that wellinformed circles believe that Germany is concentrating on submarines and the air force for lightning attacks designed to drive the British Navy from the North Sea and cut off Scandinavian supplies by a blockade of the Skagerrak Strait between Norway and Jutland, to which destroyers and light torpedo boats would steal out nightly from Wilhelmshaven, Cuxhaven, Heligoland and Kiel. A further message from Berlin quotes a communique issued by the German Navy High Command claiming that H.M.S. Repulse was badly damaged and disabled by a torpedo from the same submarine which sank the Royal Gak. The communique adds that the submarine is safe in German waters. 'Subsequently the German Navy High'Command issued a revised communique omitting, all reference to the results of the alleged torpedoing of the Repulse.
