ARMY TRADITION DEFENCE OF FREEDOM (Reed. Oct. 18. 1.30 p.m.) PARIS, Oct. 17. The British commander, General Viscount Gort, who gave a luncheon to war correspondents to-day “somewhere in France,” said: “Tell your peoples that we stand foursquare. We stand in the light for the freedom of all right-minded people. “The British soldier has always known in every age how to die for the honour of his country. The men out here will do nothing to let down that tradition.”
