Dragline Plant

A suggestion to use electric power in place of a*petrol-driven engine foi the Patutahi dragline plant was placed before the Cook County Council to-day by the county engineer, Mr. K. F. Jones, who estimated that a saving of £l3 per month could be effected, while in addition the 200 gallons of petrol per month would be an economy in view of the petrol restrictions. The electrical installation would involve an expenditure of £2OO spread over two years, in addition to £OO for a condenser and installation. The council had an electric motor suitable for the purpose. The proposal was held over until next financial year.
