PETROL SIPHONING

Bowling and golf clubs in Auckland have suffered in the past few weeks from the activities of petrol thieves, although not every case has been reported to the police. The Remuera Golf Club's premises at Meadowbank were entered on Friday night, when a thief broke in and siphoned 16 gallons of petrol from the tanks of tractors used by the club. Some private owners of motor cars also have complained of the loss of petrol while their machines were parked in the city.
