PROSECUTION FAILED
PASSENGER DRUNK IN CAR Although, in Britain, it is an offence to be drunk in the street, an intoxicated person cannot be legally proceeded against if he is a passenger in a motor car, states a London journal. This point of law was decided by Newcastle magistrates when they dismissed a charge of drunkenness against Ralph Seymour, aged GB, of. Tunstall, Sunderland. Seymour’s actions while a passenger in a motor car caused a policeman to ask him to alight and then arrest him. An application by the defence for costs was refused.
