WAIROA MAN’S DEATH
GISBORNE CONDOLENCE EX-BQROUGH EMPLOYEES Votes of condolence passed by ithe Gisborne Borough Council at last night’s meeting included one to the Mayor of Wairoa, Mr. H. L. Haikei. and to Mrs. Marker, in the death of their son while on active service with the Royal Air Force. “While on my frequent visits to Wairoa when the town was in the Gisborne electorate,” said the Mayor. Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P., “I 'came in frequent contact with both Mr. Marker, sen., and Mr. Harker, jun„ and I can say that New Zealand is the poorer by the death of Mi. Marker.” Motions of condolence were also passed to the relatives of the late Mr. C. Humphreys, who had been in the employ of the council for 23 or 24 years, and to the relatives of the late Mr. J. Nelson, jum, who was a cadet in the engineers’ department about four years ago, a position which he relinquished as a result of a breakdown in health.
