SUITABLE MEN CHOSEN TWO MONTHS’ TRAINING To ensure provision of an adequate number of junior officers for the third echelon of tiie special military force a certain number of men already in camp have been, chosen to form an officers' training corps at Trentham. Suitable men have been selected at Ngaruawahia, Trentham and Burnham, and will be given two months training before a decision is . made whether commissions should be granted. Thirty-nine men went from Ngaruawahia by train on Friday night from Trentham. They include 21 noncommissioned officers from the rifle battalion. 15 from the artillery, and three from the engineers. At Trentham they were joined by selected men from other camps. Among tliem were several of the rank of corporal, though most of them were sergeants. In addition to the 0.T.C., which was also a feature of New Zealand's organisation in the Great War. there is to be a special cooks' training course at Trentham. Selected men are to be given intensive training in army cooking in all its phases, including active service requirements. To this school tiie Ngaruawahia camp has contributed 10 men.
