TENNIS OPENING DANCE JOLLY FUNCTION (Herald Correspondent.)' A jolly crowd of young people gathered at the Patutahi Hall on Saturday evening, following the opening of the tennis season. The music was supplied by Mr. J. White, and extras were played by Miss E. Ritchie and Mr. L. Thodey. A very enjoyable supper was served informally. Among those present were Mesdames D, S. McNaughton and E. D. Bilham; Misses E. Linton, J. Carnegie, M. Robb, P. Read, J. Monteilh, M. Atkins, S. Gritlen, A.' Saggers, N. Gelson, B. Bilham, M. Stubbings, E. Ritchie, J. Bryson and P. Manson; Messrs. R. Williams, J. White, D. Leslie, L. Thodey, J. and B. Seflon, A. McDiarmid, N. Hall, S. Monteith, G. Stubbings, L. Atkins, B. Papworth, A. Worsnop, R. Scragg, 11. and L. Ritchie and R. Porter. Miss P. Read, Motu, was the weekend guest of Miss J. Monteith- —Miss ,1. Carnegie, Gisborne, has been the guest of Miss M. Robb.—Miss S. Griffon. Gisborne, spent the week-end with Miss M. Atkins.—Miss E. Lougher has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. F. Habgood.—Miss R. Mason, Ayton House, was the 'week-end guest of Mr., and Mrs. E. R. Renner. Mrs. A. Robjohns,’ Wellington, is 'the guest of her sister, Mrs.' H, Speight, “The Vicarage.”—The Rev. H. Speight, and his daughter, Miss I Speight, ale visiting Napier. A meeting of the Patutahi. 1 School Committee was held recently, those present being Mr. T. W. Sewell, chairman, Mrs. R. BatyV secretary, 'Messrs. M. Hogan, A. Waddell, R. Atkins, C. McGrannachan and J. Clacker, The headmaster’s report showed a roll number of 173, with an' average at-' tendance of 165.1. At the recentlyheld primary school sports, the 100yds. championship medal was won" by Norman Hall, a pupil of. the school Tiie visiting committee for October will be Messrs. M. Ilogan and A. Waddell,
