Liggitt, who lias been attending the annual Waiapu Diocesan synod, in Napier, returned on Saturday, accompanied by Mrs. Liggitt. * * * * Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Spence, Waipaoa station, left yesterday by plane for Palmerston North, en route to Auckland. Nurse Trixie Stoddart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Stoddart. of Willowby, Ashburton, is the winner this year of the Eli Hamilton memorial prize, awarded to the most popular nurse at the Christchurch Public Hospital. The prize is awarded by vote of the nurses. * * i With the intention of writing a book on her travels in the South Seas, Mademoiselle R. Ch. Urban, a French journalist, arrived at Auckland by the Maetsuycker. Mademoiselle Urban is a graduate of the Sorbonne University and worked for some time on an illustrated paper in Prague. She is also a correspondent for a Paris newspaper and is an artist as well. She has several books to her credit.
