FANCY DRESS BALL
BARTLETT’S SCHOOL FINE DANCING DISPLAY (Herald Correspondent.) The annual fancy dress ball of the Bartletts School was held in the Y.M.C.A. Hall, Bartletts, last Thursday. The building was crowded, even standing room being difficult, and there were about 250 adults and children present. The display was very fine indeed. The children’presented a varied programme of dancing, modern, old-time, and folk dancing, which was fascinating to watch. The costumes were brilliant and great credit was due to the parents and all those responsible for the costumes. A dainty supper was served by the ladies’ committee and this was no small undertaking. Smith supplied the music for the children’s portion of the evening, and an orchestra of three, Messrs. A. Taipiha, D. Wilson and D. Blair, played later. The teachers present were Mrs. E. A. Smith, wearing black georgette and velvet: Mrs. Tarr, black cloque; Miss Moran, green cloque with bands of orange and black; and Mr. Ching.
