GERMANY BEATEN

U.S. PROFESSOR’S VIEW WARNING TO ALLIES DANGER OF COMMUNISM ERRORS OF VERSAILLES (Reed. Oct. 17, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Oct. 16. A message from Boston says that Mr. Anton De Haas, professor of international relations at Harvard University, declared that Germany had already lost the war. The time of her collapse depended on the period the Nazis balance their books with their guns. He issued a warning to the Allies, in the event of victory, to avoid the errors of Versailles, as a bankrupt Germany would be a fertile ground for communism. The Allies would find that the defeat of Germany faced them with a .more disturbing problem. Russia w’ould thereby be aided to establish communism throughout Germany. For this reason, the conservatives, middle classe and industrialists hesitated to revolt against the Nazis. He urged that the Allied peace.aims should offer Germany equality and aid in solving financial chaos, with the ultimate goal of European co-opera-tion to overcome economic problems.
