Success at Sports

A .series of successes was achieved at the recent Christs College sports by Mr. J. N. Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. 11. B. Williams, Turihaua. He created a college record when he won the 220yds, race, and he also won the 440yds, 880yds and 5-mile cross-country races, securing the championship cup witli 16 points. Services at SI. Andrew’s “Young People’s Day,” which was observed at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church yesterday, was marked by large congregations at both morning and evening services. Occasion also was taken by members of the congregation to extend a warm welcome to the Rev. A. J. 11. Dow, who recently returned to Gisborne after four months’ leave on account of ill health. A number of Sunday school scholars participated in the morning service, at which the Rev. F. A. Thompson officiated, and members of the Bible class assisted in the evening. The Rev. A. J. 11. Dow, speaking at the evening service, the first he had conducted since his return to Gisborne, expressed appreciation of the manner •in which the work of the church had been carried on in his absence.
