RIFLE SHOOTING
GISBORNE CLUB MATCH CLOSE LEADING SCORES SHORT RANGES USED Favourable conditions were experienced on Saturday, when the Gisborne Defence Rifle Club continued its monthly handicap series on the \ Mangapapa range. The practices were at 200yds and 300yds, with a maximum of 50 points at each distance. At 200yds F. J. Jeune and A. Thomas both returned scores of 43, and R. Burson and G. Martin both scored 47. At 300yds Jeune and R. Bull were the top-scorers, each with 47. With handicaps added, five marksmen reached the club standard of 96 for the two ranges, T. Dolman securing first place on the Bisley count-back, ahd the other placings' being decided in the following order: E. Sodersten, C. Lloyd, G. Martin and A. Thomas. With one shoot still to be made, at 500yds and 600yds, the leaders in the series are R. Burson, handicap 5, 190; T. Dolman, handicap 'l4, 190; and A. Thomas, handicap 10, 189
