Miss Joan Coleman, Gisborne, is the guest of Mrs. W. Greggan, Te Karaka. —Special. Mr. Harold Gatty, representative in New Zealand of Pan American Airways, will leave Auckland by _ the Monterey to-day for San Francisco. Flight-Lieutenant F. L. Truman, instructor to the Waikato Aero Club, has received notice of his appointment as an Air Force flying instructor at Blenheim. Mr. David Allan, Wellington, has been appointed a member of the New 2;ealand Meat Producers’ Board. He is the representative of theLtock and station agents, and succeeds the late Sir William Hunt. Mr. B. R. C. Nottage, formerly of Nelspn, who .has been engaged in mission work for the Presbyterian Church at Tongoa, New Hebrides, for nearly eight years, arrived at Auckland last week on an extended furlough. . Mr. L. J. Cronin will shortly relinquish the managing-editorship of the New Zealand Financial Tipies, the paper having changed hands. He occupied the position for two and a half years, and will be succeeded by Mr. Howard Elliott. Mr. Cronin'will continue as editor and proprietor of the Students’ Digest. Mr. John Sullivan, Totara, Tarawene, who has been appointed Maori recruiting officer for the southern end of the Taranaki district, enlisted at the age of 16 for the Great War and served in Egypt, Gallipoli, and on the Somme. He is a member of the Taranaki Maori Council and Aotea Maori Association.
An educational appointment with the Air Force has been received by Mr. F. J. E. Baillie, BSc., Dip., 8.A., tiie son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Baillie, Eketahuna. Mr. Baillie has been appointed to the Ohakea aerodrome, and will take up his duties there as soon as arrangements have been made for his relief from present duty at the Te Aroha District High School Mr. R. J. Kerridge, Auckland, arrived in Gisborne on Saturday evening and is leaving for the north on Tuesday. An Australian paper reports that Mr. Kerridge has acquired recently a controlling interest in New Zealand Theatres, Limited, and a substantial interest in the J. C. Williamson Picture Corporation, Limited. The Rt. Rev. James M. Liston, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, who visited the Gisborne district last week, spent the week-end in Rotorua. His Lordship visited Tokomaru Bay and Ruatoria last Monday and Tuesday, and on Thursday morning left Gisborne for Matata to conduct a confirmation service there in the evening. Miss J. I. Martin, tutor sister at the Cook Hospital, has been appointed bv the Waikato Hospital Board to a similar position in the Waikato Hos pital. 'Miss Martin, who has been with the Cook Hospital staff since December last, was appointed there shortly after her return from a visit to England, where she studied professional work for some time. The vacancy to which she has been appointed was created when Miss D. T. Buchanan was selected as matron of the Southland Hospital,
