THE MOTOR TRADE EFFECT OF THE WAR AUSTRALIAN OPINION “You will naturally wish me to give some indication as to how the war is likely to affect this corporation,” said Mr. N. L. Cowper, chairman of tiie Australian Guarantee Corporation, in addressing shareholders. “As you know, by far the greater part of our business at present has to do with motor transactions. The war wi'l. undoubtedly cause considerable changes in the motor trade, but, unless unexpected'developments occur, the board sees no reason why we should not continue to obtain a good volume of motor business at satisfactory rates. “We also have a great many industrial accounts, and we have always been keen to get such accounts when the terms were suitable and the transactions appeared sound. It is possible that there will be a great industrial expansion in Australia during the war, and we hope that this corporation may be able to assist in tiiat ex pansion."
