AUSTRALIA’S CHEQUE WOOL FOR BRITAIN GROWERS SATISFIED (Bloc, T«l. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Oct. 16, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. "15. Confirming the completion of negotiation's for the acquisition of- the Australian wool clip, the Australian’ Prime Minister, Mr. R. G. Menzies, said the basis agreed upon by the British Government assured to Australia an advance of more than. 3d per lb. compared ’ with the average of last year, representing an aggregate increase in the Australian wool cheque of £12,000,000; in other words,, woolgrowers would receive 13.4 per lb. in Australian currency, compared with in Australian currency last year, \ Mr. Menzies added that the position of the neutral countries had been under sympathetic consideration and it was anticipated that, arrangements would be made to enable the normal trade to be carried on. Representatives of woolgrowers expressed the opinion that the price Britain is paying was,, in all .circumstances, fair and reasonable and indeed as much as they had expected.
