STORM OVER OPOTIKI

A heavy storm accompanied by almost continuous thunder passed over the Opotiki district on Thursday afternoon. Torrential rain fell, ,30in. being recorded in a few minutes. Surface water was lying everywhere in sheets, while numerous spoutings in the business area overflowed. There was a heavy fall of hail in the southern part of the borough, the hail being of exceptionally large size.
