Hairdressers’ Award

Advice has been received by Mi. G. McKessar, inspector of awards, Gisborne, that an award covering male hairdressers in the northern industrial district, which includes Gisborne, came into operation on October 9. Full public holidays which must be observed, according to the award, include Labour Day, wnich falls this year on October 23. Last Before The Show The meeting of the Poverty Bay A. and P. Association’s general committee yesterday was the last until after the Show, which is to be held on November 7 and 8. The meeting elected an executive comprising Messrs. Roland Graham, Lawson Field, H. W. Barker and F. Tolenton to deal with all mutters arising up to the time of the Show. Messrs. J. C. Graham and V. Caultoa were appointed a side-show committee. A suggestion that cage birds should be included in the Show, in addition to poultry, was referred to the executive. Mr. J. Caesar was authorised to arrange for a judging card for use in beef judging and to supervise the competition. It was agreed that any donations of exhibits to the association or any other purpose should be purely voluntary and that no canvassing should be done by committeemen or stewards in the matter. The committee decided that dogs and pet lambs should be included in the grand parade.
