Wives and Sweethearts
A room in which members of die fighting forces may talk with “mothers, wives, or sweethearts" is incorporated in the now Salvation Army hall near the Wellington railway station, anti referring in lighter vein to this fact at the official opening the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones unconsciously added humour he had not intended. “1 think that a room bigger than this whole hall will be required it all the soldiers come here with their sweethearts and their wives and sweethearts as well,” he said, amidst roars of laughter.
