BOY SCOUT TROOP VISIT TO WELLINGTON (Herald Correspondent.) A special meeting of the committee of the Boy Scout troop was held on Wednesday night, when the following were present: Mr. J. L. Hilliard, chairman, Mrs. Gumming, hon. secretary, Mrs. Pemberton, Mrs. Hunter, Mr. W. G. Gumming and Mr. G. A. Read. The chief business was to make preliminary arrangements for the visit of the troop to Wellington, where the boys will camp with a Lower Hutt troop. It was resolved to raise a little more money, which would enable the committee to assist the boys by paying their train fares. The programme for the trip provides for li days under canvas in the Hutt Valley, with five days for visits to the Centennial Exhibition and other places of interest. School Committee A meeting of the Kopuawhara School Committee was held on Thursday night, those present being Messrs. H. Taylor, chairman, F. Pemberton, hon. secretary, D, Peryer, E. -Hunter, and J. Elliot. Arrangements were made to seek the assistance of representatives of other organisations in organising the usual Christmas tree function for the children of this area. The headteacher. Mr. G. A. Read, reported that there had been an increase in the roll number over the past few weeks, the total now being 61, but this was not enough to retain the school’s status as a grade IVa school. A big improvement had been made in the grounds and gardens since the new fence had been erected. The scheme for providing milk to schoolchildren was functioning well. Table-Tennis Club The final handicap tournament of the Kopuawhara Table-Tennis Club was held this week, the winners being Mr. P. Te Ngaio and Miss D. Worsfold. On Thursday night the club held a wind-up dance, when a fair crowd was present. Mr. R. Nathan carried out the duties of M.C., while music was provided by Olene’s orchestra.

Mr. Leigh-Martin, of the engineering staff, has returned to No. 3 Camp after undergoing an operation in the Hastings Hospital.
